The apiary

A few hives, a family.

AS MIEL is not a honey factory. AS are our initials: Alexis and Sylvia. At the end of our garden in Corné, in the commune of Loire-Authion between Angers and Beaufort-en-Anjou, a few hives that Alexis looks after through the seasons: the visits, the harvest, the extraction, the jarring.

The bees never travel far: they forage on what Sylvia plants around the house — fruit trees in spring, flower beds and lime trees in summer — and drink at the pond, in the shade of our trees. We do not move the hives and we never blend harvests. Every jar tells one precise season, in one precise place.

The craft

Each harvest is cold-extracted, left to settle, then jarred by hand at home. No heating, no blending, no added flavours. Colour and texture change from one year to the next — the sign that nothing has been standardised.

Everything above board

Our apiary is registered with the French authorities (beekeeper no. A5218622) and every batch is traceable, from frame to jar. The best-before date and batch number are printed on every lid.
